Going back to the late '80s and early '90s when House music became big and producers went mad with sound sampling! But nevertheless cool tunes were produced that still get airplay nowadays.
Twenty tracks that define this period, from the soulfull dance sound of Joe Smooth's "Promised Land" (released in 1987) to the boundless sampling of Peter Slaghuis's (Hithouse) "Jack To The Sound of the Undergound" (1988) (how many samples can you recognize??). Of course I couldn't miss out on adding some of the biggest chart hits like "Gonna Make You Sweat" (C&C Music Factory, 1990), "Dirty Cash" (Adventures of Stevie V, 1990) and "Rhythm Is A Dancer" (Snap, 1992).
The UK had a lot to contribute as well: Welsh producers K-Klass delivered the classic piano styled house track "Rhythm Is A Mystery" (1991) and Utah Saints got carried away with sampling Kate Bush's Cloudbusting to create the raw but very happy sounding "Something Good" (1992).
Finally for good measure some variation in styles with pop-rapper Vanilla Ice (Ice Ice Baby, 1990), Norman Cook's crazy Mighty Dub Katz - Magic Carpet Ride (1995) and finishing the set with Deee-Lite (Groove Is In The Heart, 1990)!
