True, true. When I beatmatch I usually listen carefully to snares/hits and hi-hats (because of their high frequencies, so beatmatching will be much more precise instead of beatmatching on kicks), but this time I wanted to try my new toy (I own Traktor Scratch just a few weeks now).
But nevertheless, you're right about that.
When I have some more spare time, I'll try to listen to your new sets.
thanks for explaining the points I told you. alpha said: 15:05 not rightly beatmatched, there is an offset between the two (maybe cause of the delay effect on the new one). another big change in the set's genre, this is a thing that I think you should work more. try to f...

MalPhunktion said: It's the delay of the incoming track. Beatmatching is correct (since I can see that in Traktor Scratch wink.gif), but I should definitely work on the flow of my mix (coherence etc).

about the harmonic mixing, as we talked some months ago about it I thought you were using it, but if it was a "freestyle" set like you said, then the mixflow problems are more acceptable and understandable.
I'm fine, thank you And thanks for critisizing my mix. Please allow me to reply on your crisicism.
great timing but you kill the other track too abruptly at 3:26.
I didn't kill the first track, actually, it's still playing. It's just the original recording.
the song that is entering have much high frequencies like clash, hi hats...
True, I forgot I killed my high frequencies on the track that's playing, so the high frequencies were actually a little bit too present.
7:45 nice quick mix
=)
10:00 technically good, but I would not mix this two tracks together. the last was a minimalistic tribal house and the new is some kind of funky house with some electro synths.
That's a matter of taste, but you might be right.
12:27 this mix sounds bad. much elements in conflict here
I think that it sounds really nice at 12:27, but maybe it's just a bit too much at 12:57 (two tracks running simultaneously)
15:05 not rightly beatmatched, there is an offset between the two (maybe cause of the delay effect on the new one). another big change in the set's genre, this is a thing that I think you should work more. try to find more coherence in the tracklist.
It's the delay of the incoming track. Beatmatching is correct (since I can see that in Traktor Scratch
...abruptly deconstruction phase.
True true, I was concentrating too much on the climax I was creating.
20:10 you were working with pitch bend here right? the beatmatch is "flowing".
Not exactly. I think you might have heard some shuffle in the original track. The upcoming track actually starts at 20:53.
The biggest negative point is the tracklist coherence. Imo, your set misses a logic path between the songs.
Another guy (DJ) aslo told me I should create a playlist before I start spinning, but I enjoy 'freestyle' mixing more. I didn't create a playlist, but started spinning right away and recorded the session.
I know you work with harmonic mixing, but theres more in the track than the key.
Funny you say so. I didn't do anything with harmonic mixing this time hehe. I was lucky this time
make some kind of big music of 20, 30, 60... minutes
I will, soon =)
sorry for the criticism
Well, actually, thanks a lot for your criticism. I'm not perfect and I can learn from others (although DJing is also a matter of taste). But thanks again.
booka shade are ones of my favourite producers. _O_
first mix, great timing but you kill the other track too abruptly at 3:26.
second mix, still perfect beatmatching but I didn't like the way this two sound together (the song that is entering have much high frequencies like clash, hi hats... while the other is based on low frequencies), the timing is a bit too soon, if you've wait one or two bars it would sound better.
7:45 nice quick mix

15:05 not rightly beatmatched, there is an offset between the two (maybe cause of the delay effect on the new one). another big change in the set's genre, this is a thing that I think you should work more. try to find more coherence in the tracklist.
18:30 a little offset in the beatmatch specially notorious in the beginning of the mix. good timing, abruptly deconstruction phase.
20:10 you were working with pitch bend here right? the beatmatch is "flowing".
nice last mix. man, great tracks (not really my style, but they are good), technically good and you put 11 musics into 27 minutes, that's something! (I can't do that), so imo this is a great set.
The biggest negative point is the tracklist coherence. Imo, your set misses a logic path between the songs. I know you work with harmonic mixing, but theres more in the track than the key. take more time to do your tracklist (my last set took me almost one week to do the tracklist), try to "make some kind of big music of 20, 30, 60... minutes" with "samples" (musics) of 3,4,5,6... minutes.
anyway, your set is good, sorry for the criticism but I think if we really wanna help, that's the way to go. 50 points!
