I, Audiophile.
I began my DJ career as a teenager in high school, with a couple CD Discmen, and a 4-channel mixer from Radio Shack. Although I have an ecclectic taste in music, my first actual residency, and indeed the bulk of my work for some time was in the Goth/Industrial/Vampire scene, hence the ominous-sounding stage name DJ Nacht *grin*. Because of that, albeit few and far between, I still do enjoy playing "Dark-Edge" events now and again, as a reminder of my roots as a performer. ;-)
In early summer of 1999, I moved to Los Angeles, where I took an audio engineering course, and a vastly more passionate interest in circuit music.
Whilst I am still certainly an amateur DJ, I have a great love and passion for what I do, and an even greater respect for those whom I admire and to whom I aspire.
I have had residencies at many LGBT venues here in Northern Colorado, though very few debuts in major clubs, which is ok for the most part. ;-)
My most memorable event to date was Aspen Gay Ski Week in 2005. Myself, and the two co-workers I brought with me had an absolute blast, and were given rave reviews at week's end.
At present, I don't have any regular gigs, due to the fact that *ALL* of the LGBT bars and clubs in NoCo are now extinct. It is a sad time for this community to be sure.
That said, I still continue to put together mix cd's, and enjoy a guest dj spot here and there.
Although I often wish I had a lil more practice and a lot more chops as a performer, -- all that can be procured in due time ;-) Take care,, everyone, be good to each other, and above all:
"Trust Your DJ" !
