THANK YOU for your vote on "SPACE".....much love.
SPACE and TIME
Together they are one and the same.
Some of you might have noticed that my mix "TIME" sounded familiar, and you are correct. It is in fact the second part of "Afterhours Throwdown", a rather lengthy set clocking in at nearly three and a half hours. It is definitely a commitment to listen to in its entirety, but well worth it. However, I decided to make it easier for everyone to enjoy by reducing the file size and separating the set into what worked out to be two parts, almost exactly equal in length. I did not plan for it to come out that way, nor did I plan anything else about it, actually. I just realized that I was in the mood to "throwdown" a mix; press record, have some fun, and see what came out of the session. Lately I have just been winging it, recording off-the-cuff style, completely raw and unrehearsed. Well, it came out extremely well...possibly my best work to date. If you have a good ear and know your music, you might be able to notice many three deck mixes and quite a few overlays. I am especially fond of the "Haute Mess+Redemption" mashup with "Trigger" coming in hot on their heels. I was definitely experimenting with my approach to the mixing and trying to think "outside of the box". I truly believe you will think the same if you give this a listen.
So SPACE is actually Part 1 of AHTD; heavy on the Techno, whilst TIME has more of a rockin' late night old-school house vibe yet both parts are very similar -- they both have a pulsing, driving, make ya wanna move feel. I recorded the entire set in the wee hours of the morning, during a time when I usually don't play music at all, let alone that loud but I was feeling so inspired I just went with it. And the result was amazing. So I called it "Afterhours Throwdown". Seemed fitting at the time. Listening to the whole thing from beginning to end is akin to what I might sound like If I opened and closed a whole night at an underground club, maybe just a lil more condensed but you get the idea. This is what I do.
I truly hope that everyone enjoys listening to SPACE. And TIME. Or Afterhours Throwdown. They are one and the same.
