Welcome all people!
You may say that I'm crazy to play HELENE FISCHER here at mix.dj, but I think she is a fantastic artist! She has learned acrobatics and singing on a school for that in her homeland! Her real name is HELENA! I have always said when a artist is very good, he / she is very good - no matter which genre he / she prefers!
So first in the mix the American and Englisch christmas classics sung by her, later then also some German christmas classics!
It's the advent - and christmas season, so I have thought to put this together! And you could also see it as part 2 of "THE REAL CHRISTMAS CLASSICS", an older mix classic of me! You find also that on my page at mix.dj!
Ok, I wish all a nice advent - and christmas season with your families and all the best! I hope you will like this work!

Honestly, I wasn't planning to do a Christmas show this year, until I realized how much new music there is for the season ... hopefully, enough to lure us all away from that automatic reaction: Oh good grief, again!?!
I’m easing you in with some classics (Sinatra, Herb Alpert) and then turning the spotlight on new creations & new singers putting their spin on the classics ... In fact, Christmas music is the singer's equivalent of Hamlet for an actor; they need to see what they can bring to these tunes that's new.
Notable among the secular and spiritual offerings, kudos to Sarah McLachlan for a song that reminds us of those friends whose Christmas will not include their loved ones, and to Angel Snow for her reading of O Holy Night, reminding this bitter world that “His law is love, and his gospel is peace.” And, of course, I could not resist including my all-time favorite version of Silent Night from Mahalia Jackson....
Peace to you and yours.

Sweets & Treats, the Christmas set for 2009 offered Sarah McLachlan & a number of tunes from a YoYo Ma collection featuring well-knowns like Chris Botti & YouTube sensation Jake Shimabukuro.
“Sweets” -- well, there's an overall sweetness to this collection, lots of women's voices including artists like Brandi Carlile, Meiko and the duo Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson, doing Xmas originals rather than remakes. There's also lots of classical and jazz rhythms instead of the usual EDM beats laid over classic Xmas tunes. The "treats" are a couple of older tracks, notably from Bright Eyes, Morphine and the Jan Garbarek / Hilliard Ensemble track that always drives my desire to hear Christmas music. There's also a strong winter theme driving a number of the tracks … just a little tip of the hat to the folks up north.

Here's another addition to this year's sequence of 'smoky club jazz' shows; as the title suggests, this is the kind of late night session well-known to the devoted jazz aficionados who stay until last call, when the mood is low and slow, and the playing is passionate.
Inspired by the recent Jack De Johnette/Ravi Coltrane/Matt Garrison release "In Movement", this set gathers tunes from John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett, Charles Mingus, Art Pepper, Chet Baker, Joe Pass, and Andy Bey (among others) to weave a spell that will keep you in your seat until the last note.
Don't forget to tip your waitstaff; after all, you've kept them here way past the usual closing time....
