The Hold-up LP
I posted up a little rant on my facebook:
"I have a true passion in mixing music. I have no disrespect to all the djs out there that are using such an abundance of technology equipment to mix. I think it's great what you can do on it. For some reason though it eats me up inside a little when the crowd is eating up the samples, drops, loops, 10 second mixes, 5 songs playing at once. I think the crowd has lost the true sense of being able to feel the dj as he's laying down on 2 tables and a mixing board. No screens, no bpm counters, and the million other tools. Just 2 line volumes, treble, mid, bass equalizer, fader, 2 turntables, set of needles, start/stop shut off switch, and a set of needles. To all the djs that do spin and throw down oldschool and mix old school. Props to you, that's the true love of djing. Even if it has to be in your basement. Technology always wins in todays society as it crumbles and loses it's roots."
So in this set I went back to the original style of mixing I learned. I loved it then, and I still love it. Technology is awesome, but sometimes ya just gotta step back. I enjoyed playing this set. Hope all you do to.
